The chief danger that confronts the coming century will be religion without the Holy Ghost,
Christianity without Christ, forgiveness without repentance, salvation without regeneration,
politics without God, heaven without hell.
William Booth
“I should like to see any power of the world destroy this race, this small tribe of unimportant people, whose wars have all been fought and lost, whose structures have crumbled, literature is unread, music is unheard, and prayers are no more answered. Go ahead, destroy Armenia . See if you can do it. Send them into the desert without bread or water. Burn their homes and churches. Then see if they will not laugh, sing and pray again. For when two of them meet anywhere in the world, see if they will not create a New Armenia.”
― William Saroyan
The inherent vice of capitalism is the unequal sharing of the blessings. The inherent blessing of socialism is the equal sharing of misery. -- Winston Churchill

I believe in Christianity as I believe the sun has risen; not only because I see it, but because by it I see everything else. C. S. Lewis
if my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and I will forgive their sin and will heal their land.
2 Chronicles 7:14

MUSTANG….Yep…definitely mixed messages….as I said in my post “YOU work it out” and that’s the only way, through LOTS of scripture reading and study and prayer.
BUNKERVILLE….it takes a lot to come to grips with those mixed messages……I don’t find it in ‘much of the Bible,” but I know it’s sure not all CLEAR, that is FOR SURE….at least not to our earthly understanding….
MAL: I like that…YES YES YES!! Me, too.
I think it’s important though confusing to consider and appreciate even the mixed messages…They’re not “mixed” to Him.

AND HAPPY FATHER’S DAY, FATHERS AT GEEEZ!
Sorry I forgot to make it my POST for today; My dad’s been gone for 28 years ….but he’s still HERE in our hearts, that’s for sure. Have a good day.

Z, your dad died in ’95 which was way too early. If memory has it right, he had a heart condition like a murmur or something, right?
My dad was warned at age 49 by his doctor that he’d had a mini stroke or something so he sold his business and retired. He died in 1991 at age 94! From 49 to 94. He and my mom traveled a lot and in between he did some building (stores, apartments, etc) and your dad was a builder, also.

Good one! Romans 12 is the best chapter in the bible for living. We hold to the reality of Luke 11:21 in this life, but hope for the next verse. 🙂

Yes, there are mysteries in the Bible that only Jesus will be able to explain to us. But what is confusing is that many – not all – realize the Bible is the Living Word and on the day of Pentecost Jesus sent His Helper, the Holy Spirit (Holy Ghost) who can reveal many of those mysteries to us by studying His Word and being open to the guiding of God, Jesus, and the Holy Spirit. We all get confused that is for sure.
“Eph 1:9-11 Having made known unto us the mystery of his will, according to his good pleasure which he hath purposed in himself: That in the dispensation of the fulness of times he might gather together in one all things in Christ, both which are in heaven, and which are on earth; even in him: In whom also we have obtained an inheritance, being predestinated according to the purpose of him who worketh all things after the counsel of his own will:
The mystery of God’s will is that, in His perfect timing and in His perfect way, He will work all things out according to His perfect purpose and plan (Ro 8:28). While much is revealed to us about the final reconciling of God to His people, there yet remains a mystery, but yet a mystery with a guarantee of completion.” (source)

MAL….Yes, dad’s father and mom died at 89…but Dad had rheumatic fever at least 3 times, once where he had to stay out of school a year…..that’s why they moved from upstate NY to Los Angeles….he was about 22 and the doc in NY said he wouldn’t do well through another winter.
He died in ’94, four days after the big earthquake….
Glad your Dad did well and enjoyed his life in his senior years!
BAYSIDER..Exactly.
ELIZABETH…We call it “God breathed” at Bible Study….. His words are there….His followers write it down, but it’s GOD breathed…not THEM Breathed 🙂 Yes, QUITE an ‘inheritance,’ isn’t it.

RHEUMATIC FEVER! YES. THATS what it was, Z. I remember now that you mention it.
It was especially sad because he was such a nice guy. I’m sure you and your entire family miss him a lot.

MAL, we sure do! Thank you, he was an amazing guy. He was everything. We do miss him, especially when he just had his 10th great grandchild last Friday…..How thrilled he’d have been. AND that he has a nephew-in-law who works for the NFL. We often joke that he’d have liked that, too! 🙂
He loved his family, that’s for sure. I’m sure you’ve heard from your kids, too…..You’re kind of the “DAD” around here, Mal! And I APPRECIATE you!

And we are missing many of the books we have been given. Unfortunately MAN decided which books of knowledge we would be permitted to read, Thanks to the Catholic Church we have been denied some of the most informative books.. add to it the discoveries of various scrolls.
Particularly women have been denied the role they played throughout the period with Jesus and with the beginning Church,
