Is our Season OVER?

Men, like nations, think they’re eternal. What man in his 20s or 30s doesn’t believe, at least subconsciously, that he’ll live forever? In the springtime of youth, an endless summer beckons. As you pass 70, it’s harder to hide from reality.

Nations also have seasons: Imagine a Roman of the 2nd century contemplating an empire that stretched from Britain to the Near East, thinking: This will endure forever. Forever was about 500 years, give or take. France was pivotal in the 17th and 18th centuries; now the land of Charles Martel is on its way to becoming part of the Muslim ummah.

In the 19th and early 20th centuries, the sun never set on the British empire; now Albion exists in a perpetual twilight. Its 95-year-old sovereign is a fitting symbol for a nation in terminal decline.  (Z: I disagree with that;  The Queen is, even in worsening health, full of dignity and class and protecting her country…as if the sun still didn’t set on her Empire).

In the 1980s, Japan seemed poised to buy the world. Business schools taught Japanese management techniques. Today, its birth rate is so low and its population aging so rapidly that an industry has sprung up to remove the remains of elderly Japanese who die alone.

I was born in 1949, almost at the midpoint of the 20th century, the American century. America’s prestige and influence were never greater. Thanks to the Greatest Generation, we won a World War fought throughout most of Europe, Asia and the Pacific. We reduced Germany to rubble and put the rising sun to bed.  It set the stage for almost half a century of unprecedented prosperity. We stopped the spread of communism in Europe and Asia and fought international terrorism. We rebuilt our enemies and lavished foreign aid on much of the world. We built skyscrapers and rockets to the moon. We conquered Polio and now COVID. We explored the mysteries of the Universe and the wonders of DNA, the blueprint of life. But where is the glory that once was Rome? America has moved from a relatively free economy to socialism, which has worked so well NOWHERE in the world. We’ve gone from a republican government guided by a constitution to a regime of revolving elites. We have less freedom with each passing year. Like a signpost to the coming reign of terror, the cancel culture is everywhere. We’ve traded the American Revolution for the Cultural Revolution.

The pathetic creature in the White House is an empty vessel filled by his handlers. At the G-7 Summit, “Dr. Jill” had to lead him like a child. In 1961, when we were young and vigorous, our leader was too. Now a feeble nation is technically led by the oldest man to ever serve in the presidency. We can’t defend our borders, our history (including monuments to past greatness) or our streets. Our cities have become anarchist playgrounds. We are a nation of dependents, mendicants, and misplaced charity. Homeless veterans camp in the streets while illegal aliens are put up in hotels.

The president of the United States can’t even quote the beginning of the Declaration of Independence (“You know, The Thing”) correctly. Ivy League graduates routinely fail history tests that 5th graders could pass a generation ago. Crime rates soar and we blame the 2nd Amendment and slash police budgets. Our culture is certifiably insane. Men who think they’re women. People who fight racism by seeking to convince members of one race that they’re inherently evil, and others that they are perpetual victims. A psychiatrist lecturing at Yale said she fantasizes about “unloading a revolver into the head of any white person”. We slaughter the unborn in the name of freedom, while our birth rate dips lower year by year.  Our national debt is so high that we can no longer even pretend that we will repay it one day. It’s a $30-trillion monument to our improvidence and refusal to confront reality. Our “entertainment” is sadistic, nihilistic and as enduring as a candy bar wrapper thrown in the trash. Our music is noise that spans the spectrum from annoying to repulsive.

Patriotism is called insurrection, treason celebrated, and perversion sanctified. A man in blue gets less respect than a man in a dress. We’re asking soldiers to fight for a nation our leaders no longer believe in. How meekly most of us submitted to Fauci-ism (the regime of face masks, lock downs and hand sanitizers) shows the impending death of the American spirit.

How do nations slip from greatness to obscurity? Fighting endless wars they can’t or won’t win. Massive debt far beyond their ability to repay. Refusing to guard their borders, allowing the nation to be inundated by an alien horde. Surrendering control of their cities to mob rule. Allowing indoctrination of the young. Moving from a republican form of government to an oligarchy. Losing national identity. Indulging indolence. Abandoning faith and family, the bulwarks of social order.

In America, every one of these symptoms is pronounced, indicating an advanced stage of the disease. Even if the cause seems hopeless, do we not have an obligation to those who sacrificed so much to give us what we had?

I’m surrounded by ghosts urging me on: the Union soldiers who held Cemetery Ridge at Gettysburg, the battered bastards of Bastogne, those who served in the cold hell of Korea, the guys who went to the jungles of Southeast Asia and came home to be reviled or neglected. This is the nation that took in my immigrant grandparents, whose uniform my father and most of my uncles wore in the Second World War. I don’t want to imagine a world without America, even though it becomes increasingly likely. During Britain’s darkest hour, when its professional army was trapped at Dunkirk and a German invasion seemed imminent, Churchill reminded his countrymen…“Nations that go down fighting rise again, and those that surrender tamely are finished.” The same might be said of causes. If we let America slip through our fingers, if we lose without a fight, what will posterity say of us? While the prognosis is far from good, only God knows if America’s day in the sun is over.

Z; I have no idea who wrote that but I’m grateful to Mal who emailed it to me.

I think it’s quite relevant.   Pray for America.

MUSTANG! There’s one most of us haven’t heard in YEARS! Ya, I get it…………
I’m grateful I lived when I did and DID “Have fun… in the sun…”!

KID…thanks , Kid 🙂 Another most of us haven’t heard lately! I’m sure Sinatra never thought this song would be so relevant …:-(

    Myfox…we SURE ARE!!

Another BILLION approved to Ukraine today.

  7. kidme37 says:

Ukraine, I heard China has a Ukraine rebuilding contract – things that make me go hmmmmmm.

  8. geeez2014 says:

KID, our billions probably go to China ….
Ever since the Zelenskys posed for magazine pictures on VOGUE and others, I lost my admiration.
Starting to believe what some said at the onset; But that does not make me less sympathetic to the Ukrainian people and their deaths and the destruction of REALLY beautiful old cities 😦

  9. kidme37 says:

Any sane person is sympathetic to the people of these places. Especially now when their ‘leaders’ are inflicting maximum totalitarian pain. The little hitler in Canada, the one in New Zealand come instantly to mind on other levels. And here in the US as well.
Back to Ukraine: Even a moron would know threatening to put Ukraine into NATO would kick this thing into high gear resulting in much death, injury, and suffering. Did they care? I’m including many in our own government. No. Money to be made doncha know.

Here’s my penny’s worth. The United States IS Ukraine, without Russia shooting at us. Same kind of people in government, some aspirations for self over country, and people who look at what’s happening around them like deer staring into the bright headlights. Okay, so here’s my prediction. Fifty years from now, every American will be living like the Chinese do today. And it is entirely likely that the Chinese-like-Ukraineo-Merika-Stan will impose restrictions on the number of children white people can have as a get-even feature of the new way backward. Fifty years from now — will I even care? Not even …

Surfing earlier stopped all of a minute or two to find the genius Karl Rive pontificating on how this latest and greatest $700-800 billion is a win which will help Biden if not immediately but in the near future; election pluses (my words not his.)
Hey butt boy Rove you know as well as anyone without their head up there ass there is no red wave since even a republican win would change nothing. ..follow the money. Another two minutes of my life in the dumpster.

KID, I said I’m sympathetic to the people because I’m tired of hearing particularly Conservatives raging at THE UKRAINIANS…. And, I agree, it’s like this war started intentionally with the NATO thing……….I thought that as soon as I heard it.

MUSTANG: : Russia doesn’t need bullets to be shooting at us! 🙂
Do you believe Liberals today WANT us living like China today in the years to come?

PETER…a Republican win CAN save a little…that is for sure, NOT MUCH, not as much as it might have, but it will be better than another onslaught.

I wish I’d kept Martha on because I turned the channel forgetting Rove would be on, and thinking Rove was going to NOT say this bill would help Biden. OMG.

Sorry, but I STRONGLY DOUBT Rove thought this bill was a GOOD THING for Americans so I’d not be calling him names at this point. I believe, knowing him from our years of listening to him, that he can SAY it was a good thing for Biden, and is convincing idiot Americans with their hands out and their heads “up there a$$es”, as you said!, to think Biden’s SO GREAT for spending so much money on CLIMATE and getting pharmaceuticals down, etc (which apparently will only happen in ’26 ), etc etc, WITHOUT thinking himself this is a GOOD bill.
It’s an ELECTION PLUS and will definitely lose us some November votes (along with the Left lying that “some Republicans even want to ban contraception! (WHO??)), for AMerica it might be THE biggest negative ANY BILL IN OUR COUNTRY EVER EXPERIENCED>
I STRONGLY believe this might be the straw that broke THIS ( MY) camel’s back as far as having had hopes America would survive as it is. Not with this bill.

  14. kidme37 says:

    “Conservatives raging at THE UKRAINIANS”

Then those consoivatives are not sane people.

Americans living like Chinese. I don’t think it will take anywhere near 50 years, and is it what liberal want? Course not but they’ll Never see it coming, They’re all mental cases and imbeciles.

  15. geeez2014 says:

KID, But I can see why some raged against Zelensky because there was some pretty hard to ignore information about HIM, not the PEOPLE….

What do you think liberals WANT when they’re finished with sucking the desire for self reliance, patriotism, and gratefulness for having been born in America right out of our people? And those things ARE what they’re doing…………

YOu know what bugs me almost the most about the bill (other than the ridiculous climate change $$), the IRS funding………….And I BELIEVE Americans don’t like it ONE BIT more than I do, other than the REAL nuts who actually believe that’s helping anything.

  16. peter3nj says:

While driving for Uber even these I get riders masked up in hijab-like getups. This country is ripe with government engendered ignorance. People paying $5 p/gal for milk and gas any more than his-fearing Hispanics and blacks will change political affiliated horses. Surely they believe the new hundreds of billions will help what ails them rather than end up in the pockets of corporations and other assorted overseas entities.

  17. peter3nj says:

Typo; god fearing. I despise spell check!

  18. Baysider says:

Yes. As Dennis Prager says, there will always be a country between Mexico and Canada, but it won’t always be the United States governed by a republican constitutional form.

I agree we set the stage for almost half a century of unprecedented prosperity and to a large extent security. To the extent we stopped the spread of communism in Europe and Asia, we first enabled it. That part of the narrative has eluded the chroniclers of our national story. The valiant fight against communist domination was only mounted because we did NOT fight the original clique of communist dominated Washington DC in the 30’s and 40’s, and enabled the ones in the teens and 20’s.

I have long thought that our spiritual decline contributed to our adversity and blindness, to dust bowls and depression, as we called upon the wrong remedies for a fix, and ran down the wrong roads to betterment. Grand government programs! Powerful military! Science! Intellect! Prosperity! Consumerism! Experts! Submission! (Whoa – how’d that get in there? Well, we turned our futures over to the others and had nothing more left.)

Notice something missing from that list?

We could not be better represented for what we have become as a nation than the near lifeless empty being that occupies the oval office. Under Ahab Elijah learned there were 7,000 that had not bowed the knee to Baal. God took notice. I remember how Daniel prayed for his nation with all his might as he knew the time was growing near for God to act. We don’t have a solid timeframe as he did, but we have the same God.

  19. Baysider says:

Ukraine is one of the most corrupt regimes on earth. That does not mean I don’t hurt for what their people are going through. Mustang: One difference twixt them and us was shown in a cartoon with a leftie ‘suggesting’ we send all our civilian AR-15’s to Ukraine, and a gal thanking him for showing why we should be grateful for our 2nd amendment.

I would send NO dollars to Ukraine. It gets back to the Julian Assange quote I posted yesterday about transferring money out of the U.S. tax base into the hands of transnational elites. A pox on them! Monkey or donkey.

  20. geeez2014 says:

BAYSIDER, and those who tried to fight Communism here in the 40’s and 50’s and 60’s, like a friend’s very well connected parents who worked with the John Birch Society, were mocked, laughed at, and I don’t know much about the Society and don’t really care to, but it seems to me that had people taken it seriously, they might have done good things.

I mentioned here recently that, in the late 80’s or early 90’s (If memory serves me), the LA Times came out with a SERIES ON THE CHILDREN OF THE MCCARTHY ERA…….oddly, the adult children admitted their parents WERE Communists, McCarthy was right, and films were made with subtle commie themes (even the classics, and I’ve noticed it myself watching that film genre I’m very well informed on)… they wrote about it in the Times. .And GUESS WHAT! The SERIES to be continued the next Sunday was GONE! NEVER HAPPENED.. Someone SHUT IT DOWN.

It’s rather cheering to read quite a few American writers today are mentioning the LACK OF GOD, LACK OF FAMILY LIFE, etc., in America and how that’s contributed to our downfall………It’s not only we who are aware and concerned about this aspect.

PETER: I think people like that DO think the huge monies will help them. They’re in for a VERY big surprise.

  21. Mustang says:

In response to Ms. Z … yes, it’s what the Leftists want. They aren’t liberal, in the sense of classic liberalism. They are liberal in the sense of classic Marxism. The fact is that socialism is communist light. Everyone knows this, especially on the left. They value equity over individual freedom. They value collective voice over individualism. And they value everyone walking in step according to the dictates of the government rather than libertarians who pursue liberty and the pursuit of happiness — with this caveat: they favor government if they’re in charge of it. And if they’re in charge of it, then they get to decide winners and losers. This may qualify as “insider trading,” but the losers are the descendants of those who created America, and the winners are the non-whites who inherited (or stole) it. I actually think that majority of America just handed it over like a wallet on a dark street to a thug in the shadows. Have you been to China in the past 30 years? Or anywhere else in SEAsia? Well, that’s the communist utopia and it differs from Russia because in China there is no mafia outside the government. Here’s what you do see, though: neighborhood justice courts. This is where neighbors in your tenement resemble the scene in Dr. Zhivago claiming the property of the professor suddenly reduced to living just like the stupid people who loved Stalinism. They suck up to government officials to gain “favors” they aren’t entitled to. Now you tell me that you don’t see that exact same thing happening here … and tell me that an Obama appointee didn’t extoll the virtues of Maoism. I’m guessing something very similar is going on in Soviet Santa Monica, too … if anyone cares to check it out. It’s only a matter of time before Americans are living in the People’s Democratic Republic of Americastan. By then, all our politicians will have had their Ukraineotomy.

  22. kidme37 says:

Z, We’re talking about angry at the citizens though right, not Zelensky.

I agree with Mustang in that ‘liberals’ embrace Marxism, they just haven’t the foggiest what it means in practice. As Yuri says “When a military boot crashes into their ass then they will realize but not before.”

  23. Baysider says:

Mustang, my mind wanders back to that scene from Dr. Zhivago many, many times.

We have a new knife in the heart in the LA County school district – the BIGGEST in that nation. Another variant on embracing the Marxist Mephistophelian philosophy that “everything that exists deserves to perish.” It applies to our republic at large, and every single tent peg that anchors it. Your writer has listed a lot of tent pegs. This is one of many that are targeted for division, change or destruction – just so it no longer upholds the Judeo-Christian values of the ancien regime.

Prager reported on the madness of the LAUSD to re-mold children into any combination of sexual orientation other than normal from a wee age on up. What was instructive was the directions given to teachers by the leaders of the project (they had “kindergarten” in their name). They gingerly acknowledged they have a lot of minority youngsters from families – especially black families – who hold tightly to traditional norms of male and female, and that their teachers will have to overcome black family biases to allow their black students to see their real sexual possibilities their parents are hiding from them.

  24. Mustang says:

A very sad note: Olivia Newton-John, having brought happiness into the lives of others through her acting and singing has died, aged 73. She had much suffering and a hard death; we should say a prayer for her soul and, in time, for peace to her family.

  25. peter3nj says:

Just saw this on TW several minutes ago. A true natural talent whose unencumbered beauty spoke for itself. She will be missed by her native Australia as well by her fans the world over.

  26. geeez2014 says:

MUSTANG….thank you, and Newton-John at only 73 apparently has had SUCH a struggle going through cancer…..I’m grateful she got quite a few healthy years between overcoming the first cancer and the second’s diagnosis. They say a second time is VERY rare to conquer, though one would think that, having had cancer, frequent PET scans, etc., would prevent letting a second cancer go so long as to kill you. But I think I’m wrong about that, tho it makes sense.
VERY sad note…she did bring happiness to many people…and did a lot against cancer in Melbourne, and around the world.

THanks also for your response….I don’t know about some of what you wrote, but I agree that “They suck up to government officials to gain “favors” they aren’t entitled to”
That pretty much describes Democrats with their fat hands open for goodies…and voting to make sure they get it.
I don’t think it’s a short time before the nightmares you describe, but who knows? It’s become pretty bad PRETTY FAST.
My sister and I just spoke…she has two gorgeous unmarried daughters and actually said “Sometimes I think it’s better my girls haven’t had kids…what kind of world would those kids live in?” I told her I’d thought the same thing 😦 Pretty sad for a potential loving grandma to feel that way. She deserved grandchildren…and for them to be raised in the America we were raised in which, no matter what others might say, I felt VERY VERY happy and secure in.

BAYSIDER: “…who hold tightly to traditional norms of male and female, and that their teachers will have to overcome black family biases to allow their black students to see their real sexual possibilities their parents are hiding from them.”

Let them TRY. THIS is the type of thing Black families will start voting Republican over IF the Republicans ever open their damned mouths and call it to their attention.

  27. Baysider says:

I agree. It is. Or can be. But these little bastards are clever little demons. In the most publicized cases it seems the school manages to keep parents in the dark. Even to the point of having a child play another sex at school with a different name, and the parent finds out maybe 2 years later? Prager called it out. Amala Ekpunobi has also – as a sub on his show. She certainly knows how to open her mouth, too.

I think there is an element in some cancers that “learns” to elude or fend off attempts to douse it. Read a lot about that and why round 2 is so much more destructive than round 1 – partly because what you did in round 1 does not have the same impact. Yes, very sad when I read that news.

  28. geeez2014 says:

BAYSIDER…exactly….again, I’m far too hopeful!! But, I do believe they catch on, all parents, and their kids DO talk at home….

I’m weary of Hispanics being constantly called “God fearing,” etc, by both sides of the aisle when I don’t believe mothers who have multiple kids with no fathers IS “God fearing or GODLY and, as sweet as those mothers I’ve known (cleaning girls, etc.) are, they often do NOT marry…they’re STRONG women, many Hispanic gals, and they don’t marry just anybody, but they’ll have their kids! ! (go figure)

“What you did in Round 1 doesn’t have the same impact?” But that’s what cures people …puts them in remission. What do you mean? Yes, I’ve always thought a doctor can find Round 2 easily because people who’ve had cancer are SO well checked for years to come and it can be found in very early stages, but once 2 has been found, it’s usually curtains, sadly.

  29. geeez2014 says:

I just saw this somewhere and thought it kind of pertaining to our Marxism discussion:

“The basic premise of crude, primitive tribal collectivism [is] the notion that wealth belongs to the tribe or to society as a whole, and that every individual has the “right” to “participate” in it. | The Objectivist, Aug. 1969”

  31. kidme37 says:

Still think you live in ‘America’ ?

  32. Mustang says:

    @ Z

Z … when I taught school in Texas, 98% of my students were Hispanic. Every one of them was Catholic. All of them knew about priests, few of them ever saw one in person, and none of them knew the story of Christ the savior. They were Catholic, yes — in name only. It’s complicated … and has been for a long time. These stalwart Spanish Catholics only know what they profess to be — they cannot say why. And, in any case, no one ever asks them. Yes, mothers will use God as a cudgel, and a father his outrage against his daughter who has become a tart, while slapping the back of his son for his many amorous conquests … but few within this community know anything about their faith — or any faith, for that matter. All in all, very sad. It isn’t a matter of religion; it’s culture.

  33. Mustang says:

    @ Z … according to the WSJ

WASHINGTON—FBI agents searched former President Donald Trump’s Mar-a-Lago home in Palm Beach, Fla., on Monday, which people familiar with the matter said was part of an investigation into Mr. Trump’s handling of classified information.

The search was first made public in a statement released by Mr. Trump, in which he said FBI agents were at his home.

“Nothing like this has ever happened to a president of the United States before,” he said in the statement. “After working and cooperating with the relevant government agencies, this unannounced raid on my home was not necessary or appropriate.”

“They even broke into my safe!” Mr. Trump wrote, who has repeatedly suggested he will run for president again in 2024.

The search began Monday morning and lasted until the evening, according to a person familiar with the matter.

In February, the National Archives and Records Administration told a congressional panel the former president had classified government records at his Florida residence, saying it was in communication with the Justice Department, which is investigating the matter. Messages left for a National Archives and Records Administration spokesman weren’t immediately returned.

Sounds like total B.S. to me. Must be another one of those FISA warrants.

  34. peter3nj says:

Agree 110% Mustang. Those on the right counting on a “Hispanic religious right” if you will will be sorely disappointed this November. How different are the voting habits of the Hispanics from blacks being slaughtered in the streets by other blacks, businesses and neighborhoods burned down with a wink and a nod from their democrat slave masters. Precedent and common sense should should carry more weight than the opinions of the FOX and Friends baloney vendors. IMO.

They’re making damn sure he can’t run again – ever. And after Roger Stone and others … a BIG message to those who might be inclined to think they still have 1st amendment rights. Well, I guess we found out about those anyway in the last 30 months. Pray, pray, pray. I was strongly moved to pray for him 2 days ago – strongly. I did. Now I understand we can’t stop praying.
