Freepers are actually not on my reading list or my “favorites” stack, but quite often when I get wind of something like this and Google it, I wind up there. Heck, sometimes even HuffPo and CNN get it right and post a link or an article without beating the reader to death with editorializing.
Sometimes, tho, many sites get in such a hurry to get something out that they don’t write it up very clearly.
The one I’ve lost all faith in is WND, or as some call it “WingNutDaily.” They blow stuff out of proportion and don’t seem to corroborate adequately and often come across as conspiracy nuts. If I can’t find more than a couple of unrelated sites reporting the same incident in basically the same terms, I tend to discount the item entirely.

I don’t know why this would be approved. It would not be ‘fair’ to let someone honor some who gave their lives for our country and then have to say no to a lot of others who don’t honor our country or might honor some other country. It certainly wouldn’t be ‘fair’ to make the school administrators make a decision that might be ‘unfair’ to someone.
You see, by saying no to this they are really being ‘fair’ and that is most important to teach our youngsters.
Makes you kind of proud what we are doing in our schools now doesn’t it?
Or, like me, it makes me sick!

It’s getting to the point that I’m no longer proud to say that I live in Colorado! There was a time that this nonsense would only be found in Boulder. Liberalism is metastasizing here, big time!

Well, Jones does a lot of talking about resetting standards and objectives, which always goes on in acadaemia for some reason related to adding additional coats of lacquer to rice bowls, and eventually winds up saying that he’s in favor of more emphasis on investigation and analysis, critical thinking, and communications.
Then he tells the work group to remove his name from the project report recommendations because he doesn’t want to be associated with kids who aren’t trained in high school to use research sources, analyze data, detect bias, and make sound decisions. Even the common-core supporters don’t like some of the proposed new standards.
All I can say is that we’re clearly not getting the whole story here somehow. That bit about reading the minds of the “Republican-dominated state gubmint” is almost a non-sequitur, cryptic and perplexing at best, like a football bat carried by the tennis cops at Augusta National in January or somethin.

This is eaxactly why schools need to be extremely locally controlled. Sure, in some places the parents still would not participate but I think that would be the exception and the minority by a wide margin.
Bottom line – Parents have Jack Nothing influence on public schools. They are treated with zero respect. It’s time the school administrators feared the parents. Same with the government – it’s time the government feared the population. Both cases are at their lowest points in regard to the advantage of we the people. Makes me sick.
Jimmy Carter and the Democrats are responsible for the schools.

A friend asked me to Google American history books because he knew I was TRULY BUGGED by the history books at our school and I could find NOTHING that was totally UNBIASED.
He’s creating now a course not based on a textbook but on information he writes and presents, with videos on wars, etc., which are unbiased. HALLELUJAH for him!! he’s a great teacher.
Bocopro…check this out; I was thumbing thru a history book at the school I’m associated with and was reading about the WPA and CCC, etc., when out of the blue, TOTALLY gratuitously, is something like this “the WPA camps, which were segregated, had beds and bathrooms but little else.” I remember that “SEGREGATED” jumped out at me because it was absolutely not what was in that chapter…no racism, NOTHING. See what I mean? This STINKS. and it’s STUPID.
What we all have to realize is they don’t have time for American History when they’ve got to squish in classes on THE ENVIRONMENT and SEXuALITY and AMERICAN IMPERIALISM….just no time left, ya know?!

I just discovered that in the basement of the town house adjacent to mine there is a marijuana farm that is perfectly legal here. Apparently local law enforcement has given it their blessing. Just don’t get caught smoking a regular cigarette in a neighborhood bar* anywhere in Colorado or you will be in deep $#!t !!! Yes, I know smoking is bad unless, of course, it’s pot.
* It doesn’t even matter if 100% of the patrons and employees want to smoke inside all must go outside, even if it’s 10 degrees below zero.

@JMB, Maryjane is being legalized because the cops/legal system spend way more money on it than they get out of it. It’s all about the money. Same thing happens with Coke someday?, Coke will become legalized. Most other drugs too.
I do believe drugs were and are brought in by the feds. $$$

I think way too much time IS spent on ridiculous stuff like this, but I also think we need to stop the constant drip, drip, drip of America losing its grip….particularly in honoring heroes.

I like Mustang’s solution. When I saw the ‘rule’ they cited, I did not react as strongly as thou. I can see a good reason to identify the player clearly. But I can easily see a workaround in smaller letters, different color. THIS is really the problem: “it would open the door to similar requests from other causes.” And my answer to that is “so what?” Where did you put your backbone?

Few go against the monolithic progressive/liberal juggernaut, not only because they lack a backbone, but because they don’t have the money to stand up to organizations like the ACLU. What we need is an anti-ACLU… a bizarro ACLU, so to speak, that is equally funded and will stand toe-to-toe against the progs. Maybe then you’ll see some backbone.
