A Question I’m having trouble getting an answer to:

I have been hearing a lot of Conservatives saying the quarantine was far too dangerous a solution to the virus.   Some say it’s infringing on our liberties and that, basically, this was a dry run for what they think is coming.

Trump was the one to request the quarantine…”EVERYBODY stay home if you can.  Businesses should close, churches, ballparks, stadiums,..”  Then, a few days ago, it was “…don’t even go to the grocery store or pharmacy if you can at all help it.”  Trump.

Trump also said we can’t let the cure be worse than the sickness.

SO, if this is some kind of threat to the freedoms of our country, or a foreshadowing of the death of freedom, IS TRUMP IN ON IT?

Would Trump have even let this happen if he had a whiff of suspicion that people were taking advantage of the virus contagiousness?    Does he not believe it’s contagious and he’s in with Drs Fauci and Brix on some big underhanded takeover?

TELL ME!!!

My opinion?  No.

    Wow! Loaded question alert.

O.K. First of all, with my pulmonary history, I’m likely a goner if the stuff gets into my system. But, I’ve had a good run, and you can’t just sit and worry about dying, ‘cause it’s gonna happen sooner or later no matter WHAT you do.

Now, that said, I don’t believe this is all a big plot of some kind . . . merely a mutation of a bug in bats that mastered the cross-species long jump. And believe me . . . the conspiracy theories are out there.

The most heinous is that it’s all a mechanism for culling the elderly population to reduce their drain on social services and benefits programs: i.e., they no longer contribute, and they drive up costs for health care and pension plans, so let’s get rid of ‘em.

And the second most scary, based on an existing paradigm, is Agenda 21, which a whole lotta people are in favor of – put people in kennels and corrals, preferably vertical ones, to preserve the environment: no individual travel, work from home, eat synthetic food, all that stuff.

Sometimes I get this ominous Twilight Zone tingle in which a fuzzy black-and-white déjà vu fragment pops into my consciousness of armed guys in uniform saying, “Don’t worry . . . we have a vaccine now, so get in the boxcar so we can take you for a nice disinfectant shower.”

Meanwhile, Pelosi and Rahm and Schumer and Clyburn as giddily pushing their own progressive wishlist, extorting the crisis by putting riders on relief legislation, riders which have absolutely nothing to do with remedying or preventing a recurrence of the infection.

It’s as if the virus has morphed again . . . this time into a stepstool giving libs just enough reach to get into the cookie jar while Mom’s busy tryin to sweep the cockroaches out of the kitchen.

I mean, good grief! “People are dying! We need nurses, hospitals, ventilators, medicines. Quick – let’s fund the Kennedy Center!!”

Of course it could turn out to be a blessing in some convoluted ways, such as showing people what life would be like in a socialist state where the shelves are empty and only the rich and powerful get the ventilators and hydroxychloroquine.

And . . . given a second term with even the slightest support from Congress, DJT might be successful in reviving domestic production of a whole lotta stuff we’ve become totally dependent upon east Asia for in the past 50 years.

No, I don’t b’lieve it’s all some kind of plot . . . merely the result of really bad judgment by Chairman Xi on how to handle the WetBat Lung Rot and the WHO, who were completely hoodwinked by his lies.

Throwing water into the fire under the boiler of the strongest economy this nation has seen since WWII was like the coach sticking his foot out and tripping the running back headed for a certain touchdown.

I am NOT confident that the US economy can recover completely. It’s like the docs told me about my frozen shoulder problem: We can repair it surgically, but you’ll never quite regain full strength, and you’ll very likely lose some range of motion.

And even if we get the vaccine and it all comes back on line before the stuff re-emerges next fall, it’s as if DJT personally develops a cure for cancer but the fraudstream media excoriates him for putting health-care personnel out of work.

In fact, that’s already happened in Nevada and Michigan with his comments on anti-malarial medicines, n’est ce-pas?

Yesterday, I opined that every official connected to the virus has failed the test. Trump should have consulted with our country’s best experts —not necessarily those in the CDC, but the country’s leading virologists and pathologists. Still, it isn’t up to the experts to make decisions; that’s Trump’s job. I’m also disappointed that Trump hasn’t consulted with all 50 governors, to get their input to the problem as it affects their states, to ask them for their opinions. We are still a federalist republic. It shouldn’t take more than an hour or two to get this done. And then, in concert with experts and state governors, make a decision that is clearly in the interests of the people and our society. That’s what we are paying Mr. Trump to do. Then he needs to deliver an address to the nation, something scripted by an expert speech writer and no deviating from these prepared remarks, which hopefully will tell the American people (1) the truth, (2) what we’re going to do, (3) why, and (4) his expectations of what will happen as a result of his decision … short-term, long term. And then (5) get on with it. That’s my two cents.

Bocopro…SO TRUE..”I mean, good grief! “People are dying! We need nurses, hospitals, ventilators, medicines. Quick – let’s fund the Kennedy Center!!””
And ya…”it’s as if DJT personally develops a cure for cancer but the fraudstream media excoriates him for putting health-care personnel out of work.”
AND, since Trump is doing quite a good job on all of this, in general, I think those who haven’t liked him are realizing that and so that’s why the media has even stepped UP its hate, its attempts to screw him up at the pressers, etc.

    Kid, which THINK TANK??

    Chuck…PORKY PELOSI?!!!

Mustang, I’m not sure he hasn’t talked with the best, I’d say Brix is one of them. And we know he’s in constant contact, as are Brix and Pence, with the best….unless he’s lying.. Also, at pressers he’ll frequently talk about phone calls from experts around the world weighing in, answering his and his task force’s questions, but that most of THEM are calling US for input.

He also talks frequently at his pressers of good conversations with governors across the land…lots individually, even calling some Democrats “great guys” (because they like him now!!, as he even SAYS!~), and lots of group calls. Pence, too. And he’s said he won’t do certain things because we are a federalist republic…there are things THEY must do…and he often says “I’m leaving it up to that governor (if some particular question comes up) because it’s his state and he knows it best”, etc.

I definitely agree that he might do one big speech, undeviated from (good luck with that!) but I suppose he feels spending 2 hours blabbing from the dais every single day is a good step for the public?

Mustang..what a disdainful article!! The German thing is really not like JFK and Roman Catholicism at all. I just Googled and Eisenhower and Hoover had fathers of German extraction, too, so Trump wasn’t the first. I doubt only 3 have German blood since so many Americans have some, but…OK, that’s the statistic. So Trump isn’t alone. And why would he mention his ancestry? He has mentioned the Scottish thing, I believe, but maybe Drumpf is a black sheep? We have one in our family! WHen she was dying in the same retirement home my sainted Grandma was so we had to go often, plus the black sheep was my grandpa’s sister so I went for HIM, we were embarrassed to ask for her…they’d look at us as if “YOU’re related to ANN!?” 🙂 (what a story that is! and they didn’t even know the story just how nasty she was in general!)

It is absolutely VERY weird that Trump hasn’t mentioned his grandfather dying in the pandemic of 2018 because he mentions that flu frequently….in comparison, etc. Odd!!! I couldn’t tell from that piece if the writer hates him …I think so, though!!

Or maybe there IS no ‘cabal’ working against us, these conservatives are wrong, and this is all just bad luck with this hideous virus and we’re doing all we can? And shutting down was the best idea? We all have to admit that did work, at least we think so.
I heard a doc this morning talk about the differences of the regular flu and this virus because I was one of the first to say “If the flu’s killed 50,000 and this virus will kill far less, why are we going to this extent NOW?”
The doc explained how horribly contagious this was and how horrible it is on end-stage disease…much harder ending…horrid lung damage that can’t be solved. And NO VACCINES. Let’s not forget, the regular flu deaths occur in SPITE of the vaccines….but mostly elderly.

Ya, Sparky, I don’t think Trump would ever do anything like what some conservatives suggest…but I kept asking here and on FB “but TRUMP is who’s shutting things down, etc., is HE involved in the loss of freedoms?” and they’d shut down…Silence; no answer.

BUT, then there’s this The Coronavirus Explained at YouTube. I’m not sure of the source. Hopefully they don’t have a nefarious agenda but are only sharing the truth as they know it. IF THAT’S THE CASE, AND IT’S TRUMP AND ALL HIS PEOPLE CLOSING US ALL DOWN, IS HE IN THIS GROUP? PART OF THIS WHAT YOU CALL ‘THINK TANK’?

Sparky, thanks for that…. I can’t tell you how many people I know who have been REALLY sick, coughing for weeks, weak, pain………just like you had it. I do believe they had this virus in varying extremes.

Trump’s right, we can’t let the cure be worse than the sickness. I caught a very detailed and sobering discussion about how the test for this virus actually works. It’s not so straightforward as “yes” or “no” you have it. It’s a brilliant concept, and the creator was awarded a Nobel prize for it – and he has been publicly adamant that the test can’t be used to prove viral causation. Virologists would traditionally follow a proving protocol first (no public knowledge that this has been done). Then you ‘tune’ the test to a sweet spot. If it’s too low, you get nothing. If it’s too high, everyone ‘has’ it.

My God, Mr. Trump can’t help but trying to punch his way out of a paper bag if experts are too – and not just ‘his.’

    And on Facebook.
    Not a lot of response.
Trump has not locked the country down.
The first lockdowns were Dem governors.
Then it became a snowball and it would be hard to stand up to the motion.
Trump has been asking people to stay home, not ordering them.
Trump now has to stand up to the over reach.
My bet is that he will.
He was asked by a kid, er “journalist”, at a briefing the other day why hed didn’t order a national lockdown, and he answered , “The Constitution.”
He should have suggested she read it.

David Horowitz, among others, has noted that “Inside every liberal is a totalitarian screaming to get out.” We see that today, as state governments assert the power, often illegally, to tell the rest of us how to live our lives, and to shut down hundreds of thousands of businesses.
In Colorado, a man was playing with his six-year-old daughter in a park with no one else within a vast distance, when he was arrested by a group of police officers–wrongly, based on signs at the park–who themselves failed to follow guidelines as to use of masks, gloves, and social distancing. I think that when this Wu Flu scare started, the president thought that he was getting good information. Only too late did he realize that he was getting propaganda. I believe that President Trump chose to present a unified leadership as opposed to a bickering fight which is why he has not hammered the “experts” for their wildly wrong projections.
The president was not in on the scam to shut down America. Look at the difference in response between democrat run states/cities and republican run ones.
The democrats saw this Wu Flu as a chance to accomplish many things, not the least of which were; deflect from the impending investigations into their illegal actions in Ukraine and elsewhere; stuff any relief bill with major socialist items that would never pass on their own; and take out the president.
America needs to get back to work. Senators from both parties who profited from insider information need to be removed. Biden and his corrupt family need to be indicted.
