“Donald Trump” may drop out of the 2020 presidential race if he believes he has no chance of winning, a Republican Party operative reportedly told Fox News.
The claim comes in a report in the president’s favourite news outlet that cites a number of GOP insiders who are concerned about Mr Trump’s re-election prospects amid abysmal polling numbers.
Joe Biden, the presumptive Democratic nominee, currently holds an average lead of nine points over the incumbent, according to a tracker of 2020 polls by RealClearPolitics.
Crucially, Mr Trump has lost support from older white voters — typically a bedrock of support for the Republican Party and a group that was crucial to his narrow 2016 victory. Mr Trump is also trailing the former vice president in almost all the swing states.
“It’s too early, but if the polls continue to worsen, you can see a scenario where he drops out,” one anonymous GOP operative told Fox News.
Charles Gasparino, the author of the Fox News report, said in a series of tweets that he had spoken to “major players” in the Republican party for the story. I believe all presidents get gossiped about like this when facing the next election, but I have less trouble believing this is true than I usually do. Something has changed in his demeanor, many friends who watch news a lot have mentioned it to me. Some thought he was ill, others thought he’s scared.
POLLS DON’T MATTER, most of you will say. I think they are EVERYTHING to Trump and bad news is wearing him down.

PotUSing ain’t easy. The job is a killer. It HAS to be gettin to DJT, the daily crap, the constant sniping, the lies, the skewed data, the fake news, the completely irrational and non-stop attacks by MaligNancy and Schmucky.
I’ve been in charge of things in my life – at one point I was the Director of the Navy Electronics “A” School at Great Lakes, staff of hundreds and student population in the thousands. I’ve been an underway OOD on combat ships in war zones. Been division officer in numerous assignments, once with nearly 150 people workin for me. For almost a full year I was Discipline Officer at a schools command . . . saw nothin but the bad guys every damned day.
My jobs gave me responsibilities for budgets in the millions, fleets of vehicles, building maintenance, and work in some of the most powerful offices in the world – CinCPacFlt, Com7thFlt, ComSubPac, and so on.
It changes you. Makes you wonder if the reason your troops are laughing at your jokes is your skill in telling them, your foolishness in believing that they give a damn, or their brown-nosing to inveigle some favor or attention from you.
Among the little pearls of wisdom my grandfather dropped on me after having raised 8 other kids . . . those marvelous distilled aphorisms explaining how the world works . . . those profound proverbs and Solomonic judgment was this one:
“Boy, if you ever find yourself in a job which is so frustrating, so troubling, so exasperating that it’s turning you into someone you wouldn’t want to sit down and have dinner with, get out of there. Go find something else to do that makes you feel you’re accomplishing something and doesn’t give you ulcers and insomnia.”
He was right, of course, and knowing what I know now I’d never EVER accept the position of governor or president, of ANYthing – even small-town mayor . . . and especially anything as vast and complex as this nation.
I believe Trump realizes that the job is affecting his physical and mental health. Hell, it HAS to if you’re an unselfish, dedicated, patriotic guy who’s just tryin to straighten out the messes created by decades of greedy, hypocritical, what’s-in-it-for-me career politicians.
Little late now for him to bail, and the only person I could see getting anywhere NEAR enough support to challenge the Biden boobs and Dem Dorks would be Nikki Haley, or maybe Condi Rice. Possibly Cruz, but there’s just somethin ‘bout that guy that triggers my spidey sense.

Its difficult to imagine then accept that seniors who have had a birds eye view to the past 50-60 years of the lefts incremental wearing down of the American culture, social fabric, morality, the destruction of its once great cities along with literally bankrupting the country- in concert with their “friends” across the aisle of course- will vote for a corrupt,fake,phony and possibly senile fraud the likes of Joe Biden. Could it be they miss the good old days of the Obama administration or is it that they are truly clueless to the almost certainty that Obama will be running the country from his dacha around the corner from the Oval Office?
All logic escapes any thinking person.

Ok, if it’s not Trump, (it will be btw) then I want someone who is funnier than a barrel of monkeys. White monkeys just to be non-racist about it. Someone like Joe Biden but only if he promises to sit in the chair the whole 4 years and give at least two ad-lib speeches a day in the company of scantily dressed women and girls. Each one has to include a story of how he almost beat the stuffing out of someone in high school but they ran away from the fight.
I guess I’d toss in a vote for Cruz if he was the Rah-Rah-Sis-Boom-Bah guy who was up next but there isn’t anyone in the mix I’d figure would continue working on the swamp or do good things for America. Probably wouldn’t even be able to keep DJT’s accomplishments standing up straight. It’d be back to business with just an imaginary shade of red versus a deep blue screw you America extravaganza. I wouldn’t vote for a Lindsey Graham for example. Just would leave that line on the ballot blank.

I’m still hopin’ he remains in the race. I really don’t believe he has lost his base. Initially, I donated to his fund about a half dozen times (fairly small amounts to show support) but haven’t done much this time and being a older white guy it doesn’t mean my support isn’t the same. I didn’t believe he needed much hype because folks could see all he’s accomplished. Perhaps I will donate a few bucks a couple of times to show our continuing support.
One other thing: His refusal to wear a mask doesn’t help his image, esp. when the new virus cases are on the rise. It sends the wrong message, IMO.
