PLEASE PRAY THAT THE REPUBLICAN NATIONAL CONVENTION IS A HUGE SUCCESS.
Pray that all speakers are persuasive, change liberal hearts into conservative hearts (I’m hearing a lot more about this lately), sound caring, kind and tough on security. Pray that speakers brag factually on DJT so he doesn’t have to.
Pray that Donald J. Trump rises to the occasion, that he doesn’t speak too long, that he hits all the GREAT THINGS HE HAS DONE without sounding conceited.
Pray for Melania should she speak (I haven’t heard if she is or isn’t, but I’d imagine she will?)…against stage fright and against those who will disdain her no matter how beautiful she looks and how wonderfully she speaks.
PRAY THAT THIS CONVENTION TALKS UP THE END OF THE VIOLENT PROTESTS, REMINDS US WE’RE NOT SEEING THOUSANDS OF CENTRAL AMERICANS COMING IN EVERY DAY ANYMORE, REMINDS ALL AMERICANS THAT SLAVERY DOESN’T DEFINE THIS GREAT COUNTRY.
MAKE THIS CONVENTION AN ABSOLUTE TREASURE………MAKE IT HAVE A HUGE VIEWERSHIP AND MAY WE ALL BE EVEN PROUDER THAN USUAL ABOUT BEING CONSERVATIVES!

If we have to depend on politicians speaking to get people to see a bit of reality after all the dems have been up to these past 3.# years then I have zero faith in that part of humanity. Which I already don’t. But hey, every little bit helps I guess. We are up against a large enemy force that I will detail part of as follows:
In the evening I poke around youtube for some entertainment before bed, and it is extremely clear that youtube makes suggestions for videos to watch based on what you’ve watched before. When you scroll down a bit they have general suggestions – news on the Covey, political garbage, pop culture junk, etc. There is an “x” at the top right of those rows that when you click the x you are telling youtube, don’t ever suggest any of this garbage to me again ever under the promise of pain, death, and worse.
THE POINT – As I peruse through video suggestions that are close to things I’ve looked at in the past, Without Fail they have political crap videos interspersed in copious amounts through the stuff I might be interested in – believe me when I say this – 100 Percent are anti-trump and pro-democrat – 100 percent. youtube, google, social media are all pushing their communist manifesto in every possible why that they can 25/8/367.
Then last night we went to a Chinese buffet that has changed their format to Cafeteria style, just to see how that was and whether that sort of thing might fly with people. Not many people there, especially for a Saturday night, and we decided we don’t much care for that format. The Point of this one is there were 4 black dudes sitting about 20 feet away and at one point, one of the dudes says “Donald Trump is the man”. It wasn’t said in such a way that you’d think it was done sarcastically or for anyone else’s benefit. They were only looking at each other and no one laughed. Maybe that “40% of blacks for DJT” is closer to true than not?
I now return you to your Blue Jay, Woodpecker, Squirrel, Humming and assorted other Bird feeding activities on this Sunday morning. The owls are quiet this morning and the Deer have yet to visit as we prepare for a danger packed raucous filled trip out to dine on some Dim Sum, and of course pick up more bird seed at Costco who has the best stuff in this product category. Sunflower, dried fruit, peanut, who knows what else. The birds actually leave tips.

Being second to have a rally actually gives us the edge because theirs is over and we can respond, having the last word. I’m certain it will be much more energized because Trump has that magical energy that stimulates the crowd. I believe I had heard Melania was going to speak, too.

Kid…cafeteria vs buffet…? Like cafeteria on a tray? Versus buffet filling one plate? I’m honestly not sure the difference ..it’s been a long time since I’ve been to either (Except a hospital cafeteria while visiting MOm last November, come to think of it!!)

I don’t know about other places but the buffets in Vegas are not really buffets from whats been described because you no longer serve yourself, obviously, because of the serving spoon, but I guess some dude serves you instead.

If the republican circus is anything like the democrat circus I may catch up on my sleep. I can’t say I listened to any of the DNC tribunal just caught some highlights or low-lights. This was not a convention but an assignation of trump. It is amazing to see how few times they mentioned their candidate.
I am waiting to see how biden can raise taxes on individuals and corporations, increase regulations on businesses, medicare for all, increase payments for unemployment while at the same time cutting unemployment and bolstering the already booming economy. He must have a lot of tricks in his basement.

Z, when it was a buffet they had steam tables full of trays with various foods (Americanized Chinese like General TSOs chicken, etc) You grab a ceramic plate, wander around and put what you want on the plate then back to your table. Actual silverware.
The cafeteria style there is you wait in a line of people separated by 6 feet, then you walk around the area where the food is in a specific route, you on one side of the food, a server on the other side. You tell them what you want, they choose what piece of salmon to grab for example, put it on a styrofoam plate, the kind with the three sections, then when you’ve been served what you want you take it back to your table to eat using plastic ware. Your drink is in a styrofoam cup that you pretty much need to use two hands to keep from crushing it as you pick it up to drink from. Won’t go back. Don’t see how any of these places can stay in business.
The places we go for lunch are just regular restaurants, no different than before Covey, just that you wear a mask from the entrance to your table.

I have not known or heard of (other than the few you mention) anyone that had the Covey. My lunch pals are 71 and 72 and know Lots of older people and younger people and who have never heard of anyone with it. One of their pals does PM and repair on anesthesia machines and is in medical facilities all over the Eastern states and who has also not heard of any cases.

Kid, imagine a DENTIST not having heard? My own MD has a very busy practice…he’s had 4 Twenty-somethings who got it and got over it and an over-Sixty patient who also recovered. FIVE in a very big practice.

That’s right Skud. Their candidate is not worth mentioning. He’s rather like zucchini or eggplant – bland and flavorless, bad texture, only edible when loaded up with garlic, soy sauce, hot peppers or other taste enhancers.
Now I see a big stink over the pronunciation of Harris’ name. Honestly, I used to pronounce it differently (she was a public official at our state level, after all, and I heard different versions of pronunciation), but CHANGED my pronunciation to what’s now being called ‘racist’ after I heard Joe Biden say it that way. I thought, well, she’s HIS running mate, he must know how to say her name. Un-uh.

Know Covid patients personally? Only the one we know mutually, and that’s been a long time. But 5 by extension via other persons. One of them was pretty severely ill, and lost a lot of kidney function. One of them works as an EMT. Others were before the headlines and tests, but their symptoms match exactly – one hospitalized.

Z, Yes it does exist, but to the level of shutting down the world ? I offer no conclusions because Of have zero faith in the quality of information being presented. We will all know in hindsight, but I lean toward it being a problem for older people over 65 or with a significant respiratory problem, and no deal at all for young people, though they could carry it to older people.
So far though, given the initial panic about the spread and the rate of spread, none of that is panning out at least not here in the US. Cuomo actually had to send the disease into the nursing homes to get it in the news.

Baysider, I’m no fan of zucchini and especially eggplant, but here is my all time favorite recipe for zucchini.
– French cut slice it very thin.
– Create your favorite breading. I prefer something light but still with a little body/crunch, halfway between Panko and Tempura?
– Remove the seeds from as many cucumbers as you think you’ll need for the dipping sauce.
– Mix a dipping sauce using mayo and sour cream, grate the cucumber cucumber and add in. You can control the moisture level from the cuke by spreading it on paper towel after grating (or not) Probably need to experiment.
– Deep fry the breaded zucchini and serve. Salt to taste as you eat and either dip in the sauce or apply the sauce with a spoon if it is a little thick to dip. I end up using a spoon.
Easy to make.

Sounds great Kid! (Truly) And it makes my point: By the time you get the ‘good stuff’ on, who cares about the zucchini? You could almost do that with cardboard. Just like our cardboard candidate. He’ll be dressed up with the bread of social justice, the mayo and sour cream of wealth distribution the cucumber of being cool for having a female black on his team, and all fried in the oil of socialism. Bernie without the memory or personality.
Japanese eggplant can be very good cooked for a cold salad with lemon, red pepper, fish sauce and coriander. Same deal. You could almost do that with cardboard.
As for shutting down the world while the self-anointed WHO establishment swirls around looking for a vaccine for a virus that more and more seems to kill by progressive hypoxia? (I’m sure that’s why my friend’s client got organ damage.) What nonsense after day 10. Btw, HCQ protects hemoglobin and hence your ability to carry iron/oxygen. Whaddya know?

Ha, good point Baysider. Well, I eat a lot of things just because of what goes on it. The cucumber dip is good and may have other uses.
Eggplant is just too mushy regardless of what you do with it and I don’t like the taste at all.
Unreal the candidates the dems have. A sure sign of the level of where we’ve sunk to.
I believe HCQ and the 2 things you’re supposed to take with it is a good way to go. If I hear of anyone getting the virus close by I may start taking the stuff. I do take Vitamin D as I did read a good case on that.

Our son and grandson both had it back in February, and my dermatologist said he had it awhile back, too. (I’m seeing him again tomorrow). The guy that sprays our homes monthly had it a few months ago.
Kid, the HCQ is only effective if taken early so I’ve been wondering if we can to get the pills ahead of time just in case so they can be taken at the onset.

Mal, it’s not ‘good’ to know, but we know many HAVE had it…it’s just weird that many of us don’t know very many. I’m so glad your family’s good!! I forgot, one of my sisters’ daughters-in-law’s brother and wife had it…got over it handily.
Kid and Baysider; I like zucchini very much…I sautee grassfed beef (the most delish I’ve ever had) and garlic powder and throw sliced zucchini in with a bit of water and cook for about 15 minutes..absolutely amazingly good.
Mom grew it and used it a lot so LOTS of recipes, including her famous stuffed zucchini…very ARmenian : “Dolma”

I thought I knew two with Covid, now it turns out one, who used to be a very close friend, had a very debilitating pneumonia (tested negative three times) which after the doctors told him it would take a year to recover, God healed him miraculously. I wonder about the other now.
