EVERY SINGLE lawyer/legal expert I heard about regarding this NYC Trump trial said it’ll take at least 2 weeks to pick a jury. Instead, it took about 2 days. And that’s after they dismissed 2 after having seated them!!!
WHY? HOW?
“We have our jury,” Judge Juan Merchan said when the 12th juror was picked” I think they’re probably members of Juan Merchan’s family…..!! They might as well be.
I believe all of them said they get their news from the NEW YORK TIMES….I THINK one of them listed FOX as a source of news for them, along with NPR and the NY Times…. I don’t know if that sent them home.
SHOULD THE TRIAL BEEN HELD OUTSIDE NYC? DO YOU BELIEVE MERCHAN’S DAUGHTER’S HUGE AND INVOLVED LIBERAL CONNECTIONS SHOULD HAVE MADE HIM RECUSE HIMSELF?
It felt pretty good to hear Harlem neighbor’s screaming “WE LOVE TRUMP” outside the bodega he visited (which was a brilliant move, by the way).

Contrary to many who believe that a Hung jury will be the best hopeful outcome, I think that the Judge will simply order a new trial post haste and tie Trump up for another couple of months. If found guilty, he will be able to appeal which seems to be an easy victory. Always careful about what you want.

The judge’s daughter also worked with Adam Schiff who led the trial against Trump in congress. Such a clear case of recusal. But then he’s following in the footsteps of RBG who did not recuse herself from a case her husband’s firm was involved in.
So … WHAT HAPPENED TO THE STATUE OF LIMITATIONS?
Yes, I thought the little PR excursion on the streets of NYC was good. Probably a lot of people who are already primed to think the judicial system is corrupt, too.

JESS….I read your comment earlier this morning and thought “No way….that won’t happen”…but a man just put himself on fire who’d been standing with protesters outside the NY Court House…..he’s apparently alive, police are with him….he is alive, but he was in total flames, as the TV cameras didn’t realize at first it was actually a PERSON in flames. So……………. ”Fully engulfed”

Yes, I also found the jury questionnaire interesting. ”Do you read the NYT” etc.? In an attempt to get jurors who hadn’t read stories about it you’d think all these would be rejected. BTW, you think if his daughter rejected creating winning strategies for Republican candidates she’d be hauled into court herself, say, in Colorado like the cake baker?
I mentioned Schiff because the story did not, and I thought it added depth to the cause for the judge to recuse himself.

Whatever happens, the left always seems to anticipate the next step and respond with another tactic to keep the case alive till November. Anyone with half a brain should see the obvious attempt to prevent Trump from running. Four years ago, it was Biden who stayed in a basement (COVID, supposedly!) now the plan is just the reverse Stop Trump from campaigning….if they can…and seem to be succeeding.

Trump needs sharper attorneys than he presently has. They need to dig and somehow find at least a temporary exemption for any political candidate, especially a former president, so this can never happen again in the future. This is unprecedented!

BAYSIDER…the Schiff thing was so in the news I thought it was in that article, too…..yes, it was known but very few lib stations mentioned it, of course. I’m hoping Garvey’s smart enough to use it.
If they asked “Do you watch FOX?” and they did, they’d be kicked OFF, wouldn’t they. ONE said he/she watched FOX and read the NYT…sure you do…I’ll just bet.
I think I’m the only person left, particularly conservative person, who listens to CNN as much as I do….I believe it’s important, though I get teased about it HERE sometimes!
MAL….I think they’re pretty sharp…but I worry about the woman attorney often on FOX: I think he uses them men to actually do the WORK :-)
And I DO believe even liberals see this dichotomy….my own pastor is more a centrist (according to HIM, anyway) and even he, a few weeks ago, said to me “That Trump lawsuit thing is NUTS….they’re just after him” and he’s NO Trump fan.
THE MOST IMPORTANT THING ALL OF US SHOULD BE DOING WITH FRIENDS, ETC., IS REMINDING THEM THAT WE ARE PEOPLE OF CONSERVATIVE VALUES….SOME OF US REALLY LIKE TRUMP, SOME OF US DON’T SO MUCH….TO US, THAT MATTERS NOT BECAUSE HIS VALUES ARE OUR VALUES AND THAT’S MORE IMPORTANT THAN HIS BLUSTERING EGO OR ‘MEAN TWEETS’….. AMEN.

I heard an interesting interview with an attorney regarding jury selection. He had found the most important in selection was that they be “intelligent” and were hard working in their careers…. I agree, the Times are worrisome, but then again… at least he/she reads a newspaper. There are two attorneys on the jury which I find really interesting.. His thought was they would at least make an effort.. He had found that when interviewing jury members after cases, he never really had a “take” on who would be likely on his side.

BUNKERVILLE….there was a jury consultant woman on FOX, too, who said the same thing about the lawyers…”at least they’re smart!” I like to believe they’d make, at least, an effort to be fair…..yes.
There’s just something creepy about how they’d predicted at least two weeks of jury questioning because this was SUCH an important case in SUCH a biased city…..I honestly believe this is laziness on the part of the lawyers more than honesty.
The judge is SO immersed in the Dem party, you’d think anybody that obvious would recuse himself……I find this disgusting.
By the way, if I’m not mistaken, lawyers weren’t even considered for juries in the past….nor law enforcement…
