Something good…something not so good

GOOD:  I had never seen this picture nor had I heard the story behind it.    You probably have, but I had to post it just in case.   What a testament to man’s instincts to help another man!

Here’s the NOT SO GOOD mentioned in my post title….Is it possible that, in America, anybody with Christian faith will be unable to hold a public position like Judge?   What was Feinstein thinking when she said to a Catholic judicial nominee:

“When you read your speeches, the conclusion one draws is that the dogma lives loudly within you,” Feinstein told Barrett. “And that’s of concern when you come to big issues that large numbers of people have fought for for years in this country.”

Does Feinstein realize that many with this “dogma” fought and died for this country?  Or actually FOUNDED this country?

This is rich:  “Do you consider yourself an orthodox Catholic?”  (Dick) Durbin asked.

I wish we lived in a world where we could still respond with “No, I’m a Catholic who doesn’t give a fig for my faith, so is that okay with you?”, said VERY sarcastically.

I get that people should be vetted and we’d be whining if some muslim nominee for judgeship here in America was saying he’s going to go by the koran, or sharia law, when making decisions …but this nominee has said she goes by THE LAW, AMERICAN LAWS ON OUR BOOKS……and gets treated this badly.

Thoughts on GOOD and/or NOT SO GOOD?!

Of course, what happened 15 years ago was NOT SO GOOD, to put it mildly, either…and I want to, again, mention those who jumped……take a moment, friends.  Just take a moment.

I wish I could say that how people think doesn’t matter, but it surely does —particularly on the judiciary where law must be decided on its merits. Do you remember when the high court decided the issue of pornography? A major defense of obscenity in films was rendered by the confused Judge Potter Stewart’s conclusion that, “I’ll know it when I see it.” Now, if that isn’t entirely subjective, then I don’t know what is.

Still, we aren’t plugging in machines to make important judicial decisions, we appoint men to do that. It should not really matter what religious belief a man or woman has … only that they swear to uphold the United States Constitution. Of course, the rub is this: The Constitution says whatever the Supreme Court says that it says. Nevertheless, Democrats prefer not to have anyone on the court who believes in God; they would much rather have someone on the court who believes in Harry Potter.

I had to laugh at this one…”Miss Texas Margana Wood may not have triumphed at the Miss America pageant, but she won over millions of new fans by calling out both white supremacists and President Donald Trump on Sunday night.
During the Q&A portion of the event, Wood was asked about Trump’s response to white supremacist violence in Charlottesville,”

Now Miss America contestants are asked about a president’s response to ANYTHING? Is this EVER EVER going to stop? Talk about inappropriate!
My feeling is they told her they were going to ask, or she had asked if she could have a question like that so she could screw him in public. Of COURSE, she got “loud cheers” from the audience.

More on Miss America: “Cara Mund is not worried that she may begin her year-long reign as Miss America by starting a Twitter war with the nation’s Tweeter-In-Chief.”

“not worried?” Of course she can’t be worried…this would be the best thing she could do for fame and fortune for herself!

“The 23-year-old Miss North Dakota won the crown Sunday night in Atlantic City after saying in an onstage interview that President Donald Trump was wrong to pull the United States out of the Paris climate accord.”

SO she, too, doesn’t understand why he pulled out and feels the need to show her ignorance?

“400-mile wide storm. In local terms, that’s like from here in LA to San Francisco!”

OT but Irma left no choices as there was no place to run. And those who fled to the west coast made the wrong choice as those did who fled to Orlando, or Jacksonville or Georgia…it was inescapable! And it wasn’t their fault either. They used the latest weather reports…which we completely wrong AGAIN….THESE PEOPLE ARE NOT THE SCIENTISTS WE MAKE THEM OUT TO BE EITHER!. I’m angry because they put millions of people in danger for their lives. They might as well have hired a palm reader or used a crystal ball for their erroneous forecasts and information.

We had minor damages this time and far less than Wilma 12 years ago despite all the gloom and doom from this governor and our weather “experts”. We’re fortunate because we have power in a back up powerful 25KW generator…which has been running 2 days now. Our neighbors are running extension cords from our outlets outside to power up some light and their refrigerators and to charge up their phones. Last night between bands of rain and wind they all came over and we got thoroughly toasted on white and red wine and German beer. We thru a toast to our luck, good fortune and for Irma to piss off.

Thanks for all your kind thoughts and prayers. Some were answered and some not. Bless you all. God smiled on us this time. Now we wait for Jose right behind Irma. It’s the year for the hurricane dating game.

Imp, I was wondering if you still have natural gas because I remember a number of years ago Costco was selling a large unit (can’t remember the wattage) that would automatically fire up when your power was disrupted. It was capable of running most everything in the home with little difficulty. At the time (maybe 15 years ago) it sold for $2,500. Just wondering if that could help because you never hear about losing your natural gas (except for earthquakes, maybe).

I’ve read (WSJ) that the Irma ran out of gas because 1) it tipped past Cuba’s land, which slows ’em down 2) it met another weather front that sheared off its top and destabilized the eye – takes out the power. I’d think that’s hard to pin down. But I don’t like the spirit of “the worst disaster ever” kind of talk. They want so badly to find a way to get people to buy in to their climate religion.

Ms. Z..”I know you know , but I had no idea there are rules like which direction you ‘aim’ it? Keep it outside, etc?”

That hardly applies to me Ms.Z….my generator is a water cooled 1.8 liter Ford engine producing 25KW and it’s the size of a Volkswagen Beetle in it’s own 8 foot by by 6 feet by 4 feet…and would never fit in my house. It’s fed propane from a 500 gallon tank buried 10 feet into the ground in my backyard that resembles a Jap mini sub during WW2 like the ones they used at Pearl Harbor!, with a round hatch on the top for filling and access. But… I’d sooner commit suicide by sitting in my car with a hose attached to the exhaust running into a window, then wheeling my 2000 pound Generac into my living room. LOL And for Mal…it cost around $8000 back in 2005.Not including the 500 gallon propane tank…another $3500. Not cheap but irreplaceable for the peace of mind, the comfort and the security it affords us.
I suppose when it’s empty I could use it as a bomb shelter or store my valuables in it to keep American Blacks from looting my possessions while my home was abandoned because I obeyed the evacuation orders. ( yes I said it and they continually feed the stereotype of being a culture that accepts the act of being scurrilous thieves taking advantage of poor people in a crisis. Yes…stealing sneakers by the car loads and bundled in their thieving arms to throw into waiting BMW’s, or TV’s from Walmart in New Orleans or looting in Houston. We know this is acceptable and an absolute necessity for survival in a crisis. We know that they have been the poorest and most oppressed people in the entire world for the past 400 years or so and too many among us continually make up excuses, rationalize and understand or out and out justify their behavior. It’s one thing to break into a store to get food or diapers or formula for the kids…( or wait for the Red Cross ) but the truth is that it’s all a disgusting felonious criminal act, anti social and basically barbaric behavior and un American as hell ) I have to ask..did anyone hear of or see BLM, the CBC, the NAACP, Fat Al or Jesse Jerkson or the very rich diva Maxine Waters either, make a huge donation like Sandra Bullock or President Trump to the Red Cross or send a truck loaded with water, clothing, food, diapers and baby formula marked for Blacks Only?

Nope..but what I did see were hundreds of white guys saving black lives with air lifts, air boats, huge trucks that could navigate the 3 foot waters, guys pushing canoes, row boats, carrying black babies in their arms and old black ladies on their backs to safety…real men and tear jerking moments of personal sacrifice and bravery while their own families were just as deprived and affected by the disaster….they gave their time and bodies to help the poorest and weakest among us. Selfless, strong brave men and women. Meanwhile selfish, spoiled rich black goofs in football uniforms refuse to stand for our flag snd anthem.

Our new home in Ft.Lauderdale was broken into and finding nothing of value because it’s not yet occupied by my daughter who fortunately decided to shelter with us…trashed the house instead. The cops already knew because it was reported to them by her neighbors who fearing for their lives from these scum…told them it was a car full of blacks but understandably and wisely didn’t interfere for personal reasons. And her meager possessions are not worthy enough die for or be severely injured over.
She discovered this today after the storm eased and my daughter went to the house to see it was OK
Gouging is all together another issue…but out and out robbery during a state wide emergency warrants the death penalty in my book of Eli.

    I’m so over these people.
