I’ll have to get back to you on that one.
Meanwhile a better question might be which politicians spun the most believable fairy tales? For my money LBJ whether Viet Nam or domestic policy he lied like a rug with the liar, I mean the Lion of the Senate coming in a close second with his immigration legislation engineered to keep Europeans out and let the dregs of the earth in.

  2. Mustang says:

This is one of those “if – then” questions, isn’t it?

If by definition of honesty you mean uprightness of character, action, or behavior, then we have that one standard; but if you mean a refusal to lie, steal, or deceive, then we have another standard. Or perhaps anxious regard for one’s professional integrity or ethics, another. Trustworthiness, incorruptibility, probity …. all of these examples could point us toward what might be an honest individual as seen through the eyes of another.

Or did you mean honesty as in how a politician might see themselves? If a politician regards deceit as a mere standard employed to assure his or her success, and if political success is a politician’s goal no matter what it takes, then one could argue that the politician was honest with him or herself, but hardly a trustworthy or upright individual as viewed from a Christian perspective.

Moral relativism comes to mind, not unlike Moslems, who lie because they think lying is okay in the service of their moon god. Are Moslems honest? They are honest in their willingness to do whatever it takes to “serve Allah” … but otherwise, no.

I regard Mr. Washington as honest, which eventually — as a man of integrity, drove him to the decision to step down from the presidency. I think Coolidge, Hoover, and Reagan were honest. John Adams and Quincy were honest-leaning politicians … beyond those, I cannot credit any other as an honest politician.

We never did learn who Obama really is … but we know exactly who Biden is and what he’s capable of doing. Biden is steadfast in his ideology, but ideologically, he is not an American and in my view, insofar as the presidency is concerned, didn’t run as one. Was Biden therefore honest? Only if the means justify the ends.

MUSTANG… I mean pretty much what I asked! No, not how the politician might see themselves….I asked who any of you believe was an honest politician….someone who did what he’d said he’d do; told the truth. And I believe that generally comes from someone who has integrity, good character, etc.
I like “..Washington….” “… I think Coolidge, Hoover, and Reagan were honest. John Adams and Quincy were honest-leaning politicians”:

I have to say HONESTY is not a trait I’d have considered in explaining what I believe about Obama! And DEFINITELY NOT BIDEN. But, yes!! We COULD say he’s ‘honest’ to his ridiculous unAmerican views and followers’ beliefs…yup!

Honestly, Mustang….a suggestion Biden’s not even American is so NOT far fetched…
Did you hear him at some black tie dinner Saturday night saying he was sick of the GOP talking about his over spending? After $400 BILLION on student aid and $700 BILLION on that ridiculous bill he got passed?? He’s SO ugly, SO unpresidential….

And either he squints ALL the time when his mouth is moving OR he’s reading a teleprompter and that’s what I’d thought..I thought he needed glasses so he squinted….But now I see he squints EVERY time he talks, even the shortest sentence…could they be needing to print on a teleprompter EVERY SINGLE THING HE IS ALLOWED TO SAY?

He is SO angry and SO ugly and NASTY every time speaks…how can people go for that? This great “Unifier” (who, by the way, can’t say UNITY….you’ll hear it now that I mentioned it…he says UNINY) is the most divisive monster we’ve EVER had.

    PETER…I don’t think all spun fairytales…! I hope not!
How do you like MUSTANG’s suggestions on who might have been an honest politician?

  4. JG says:

I think the original Founders were honest. I have issues with Lincoln and him over riding states rites as the south had a right to succeed from the union, and this has lead to a massive Federal Government. I believe Coolidge, and Hoover were honest.

I also think Eisenhower and Reagan were honest. I do think Reagan was mentally impaired during the last part of his Presidency so I think his people were running things. I think Obama is not born in America and should not have been a President, and is now Biden’s puppet master as Biden is brain dead.

I find that Trump has done everything he said he would do even with heavy pressure of the DC swamp after him, along with Media, Big Pharma, and Corporations. I believe Trump was cheated out of the win of 2020 Presidency. Trump is honest that he wants the USA to be what it was originally and he follows the law. I do think he will win the 2024 election or we will go into CW2.

  5. geeez2014 says:

JG…you know, I think EISENHOWER was honest, too….Obviously, I wasn’t around much to know, but from what I’ve read, etc., I think he was a good man, honest man.
LINCOLN, too, whether we like what he did or not…..he was honest, I believe. His faith and his background raised him into an honest man. Hey, I just remembered! …he was known then as “HONEST ABE” 🙂

And, you know, while I blame Trump for Biden today (I believe that had Trump had a different personality and showed some empathy to Americans and wasn’t quite so egomaniacal, he’d have won in spite of any election cheating)…, he was honest, too. I think you might be right.

  6. Baysider says:

Washington – who put everything on the line, paid his debts, stepped down after 2 terms even though he could have been there for life (which, sadly, he virtually was).

John Quincy Adams – After losing a viscous re-election battle spent the rest of his life in congress carrying water for a moral and ethical position, anti-slavery. His anti Indian removal stance (pushed along by land developer hopefuls in his New England) probably cost him re-election as president but he would not back down from what was right. Our “Monroe Doctrine” should really be named “Adams Doctrine” after its creator.

Lincoln – who stood up to slavery and the slavery of the banksters (likely got him killed – “that dreadful House” who was an agent for European banking interests) and coalesced a cabinet of “rivals” famously into a functional government at a time of greatest trial.

Taft – He was not the “Puzzlewit” (village idiot) that TR called him, but very aware of the goings on, stood strongly for American republican interests and squarely against the banksters and Wall Street who brought him down because he would not sign on to what became the creature from Jekyll Island (Federal Reserve). (TR’s 1912 run was constructed by JP Morgan to take out Taft and get the compliant true Puzzlewit, Wilson, in.) He was one of the few who cut back the powers of the President. In 1908!!

Trump. Yes, he truly stood in a “Crossfire Hurricane” (FBI code name for their plot to take him down with the phony Russia meme) the imp eded his work and had ample flaws. He also got much done that was for the benefit of the republic. It took the Fauci-Gates Wuflu cabal to get him out. That had been in the works for 2 decades or more and was hidden from the view of most who follow politics (even though they stuck their head above ground in the 2003(?) medical act which got my attention then.) In terms of his service to the republic I think he was a very honest broker.

So much for Presidents (yes, I love Reagan and Coolidge too). Hoover maybe. The “Wonder Boy” – sincere but wrong.

Other honest politicians? Rand Paul (and his father who served a long term in congress as a sort of modern day JQ Adams, poking the establishment in the ribs). Ron Johnson. John Campbell who would not be bought and had a core philosophy he stuck by. (He’s not well known now, but I knew him arms length and was part of one of the core groups that seeded his first campaign.) And I honor our own local Christine Reed, a genuine liberal serving on the City Council in the era of the Beserkely rent control takeover.

Biden – a TRUE Puzzlewit – does not have an ideology. If he could be called “steadfast” in some way that would be “get me re-elected and make my family rich.” Whatever it takes.

  7. geeez2014 says:

BAYSIDER..thanks! Interesting takes on all of those you mentioned!!!
I think Rand Paul is honest, too, as was his father….
I remember the name John Campbell well …but no, he’s not known now.
Ron Johnson is a favorite of mine. Hoping and praying for him now.

I believe Biden has an ideology…or his handlers at the WH do…”Bring America down to its proper level, it’s not greater than anywhere else….” And yes, “make my family EVEN RICHER”!

    Come to think of it:

PETER….what do you think of LEE ZELDIN? , since you’re in his area?

  8. bunkerville says:

“Biden is steadfast in his ideology” depending what decade of his life he is living. The ultimate Tabla Rosa… Now he is is one nasty old man who between being sedated and revved up.. he may find his way off the dais.
I too think it depends on how one determines “honesty”

  9. peter3nj says:

While Lee Zelden is a good man his creampuff throwing TV ads are a yawn especially for NYC’s Trump hating democrats who will decide the election. While some republicans are trumpeting (no pun intended) former Republican Governor George Pitaki’s beating Governor Mario Cuomo in 1992 todays voters will prefer a crooked woman over a good man. IMO

  10. geeez2014 says:

BUNKERVILLE…I never thought the word HONESTY would be so open for opinion! But I’m not surprised you ‘too’ think it depends …He often has Jill help him off the dais, but you apparently have noticed that, too. And, when she’s not there, he’s trying to shake hands with air on both sides of him.!

To me, because I asked particularly about politicians, it was pretty clear…but maybe not. We talk of it often….”he’s a liar” “she completely misrepresented that..” , etc.

To me, honesty in a politician, is going through with what he promises….’I’ll do this…” and does it. Not deceiving….at least obviously. We can’t know peoples’ hearts, of course. Perhaps political honesty is only “not too much baggage attached,” like those presidents listed in some of the comments above……..or at least “clean” baggage 🙂

Clinton was dishonest, caught in lies….Obama was dishonest, pretending love of country then apologizing for us…….etc etc.

I doubt if ANY person, let alone politician, is completely honest but I hoped to get a good conversation going, and I think we have…thanks!

    I found this:

free of deceit and untruthfulness; sincere.

  11. geeez2014 says:

PETER…good point choosing a woman just because she’s a woman. Shudder.

I haven’t seen the ‘creampuff’ ads but if you mean his kind of quiet, reserved inability to LET HER HAVE IT, I can see that.

Let’s hope it’s another Pitaki-esque win. But I doubt it.

Honestly, the very idea of voting for HER is so disgusting I can’t even imagine…..and they’re THERE! But I should talk; people actually vote for NewScum, so….

  12. kidme37 says:

George Washington. I’m not enough of a historian to pick any others.

  13. kidme37 says:

Well, also Trump, but look how the country now treats such a man.

  14. geeez2014 says:

KID, that’s kind of how I feel about it 🙂 And yes, THIS is how a man who had our country in SO MUCH BETTER SHAPE is treated.

I just spoke to a friend in Macon, GA who still has liberal clients here in CA….He’s a staunch Conservative and said some clients ask how he likes Newsom…he says “what do YOU think of him?” and they’ll say “He’s fantastic!”

If ONLY my friend didn’t want to lose clients and could ask “Tell me ONE THING he was ‘FANTASTIC’ about!” unreal.

  15. Baysider says:

How about “I’ve lost the thread of the day-to-day political activities in California. What impresses you about Newsom now?” It would be INTERESTING to hear that answer. I’ll bet “green” and “leadership” find their way into a vague answer.

  16. Baysider says:

This has been out 3 years. But shows the great draw power has, to be bought at any price by playing on Greed and Entitlement. THIS is what the “honest politician” is up against.

  17. geeez2014 says:

BAYSIDER….”Green” certainly would be mentioned. Leadership? he’s done no more than anybody in Sacramento. Which means “leadership” just might be an answer! 🙂
    He’s done NOTHING good….
the very idea of making jaywalking legal because it was racist? Like I said up above somewhere, how can it be RACIST? Or could it be that minorities just jaywalk more and that’s why they supposedly got more tickets? Can’t look at it THAT way, of course ;-(
And to deny evidence because it’s in a rap lyric like “I killed that jerk today…” because it suppresses artistic creativity? YOu can’t make this UP!

Cute video….Got to admit the singer did sound like the Beatles!

If ONLY Republicans could articulate how WRONG our population is to buy all the woke/freebie crap………….but, alas.

  18. geeez2014 says:

BAYSIDER: This is from a Comment I left late yesterday:

BAYSIDER: A CBSer who I’d told about Prager Bros also had another friend tell her about it…she and her husband were down there this week and she found it and brought me a croissant, an almond ‘bun’, the most delicious apple/custard tart I’ve ever had, and a dark chocolate bun….absolutely astonishing. EVERY thing…and I’m NOT a big sweet eater! These things were so SO far more delicious than I’ve had in any other bakery that I actually emailed Prager Bros complimenting them 🙂

  19. Baysider says:

Yes – I saw it. Except not the part about emailing them. That was sweet!

  20. geeez2014 says:

BAYSIDER….I really believe they ARE probably one of THE best bakeries ever….I’m NOT a big sweets fan and I couldn’t get enough of all that stuff. Good thing it’s not nearby! 🙂

  21. geeez2014 says:

Marvelous, Joe……He says he was raised in the Puerto Rican state of Delaware! Seriously “I was sort of raised in a Puerto Rican family ..politically… we had a lot of Puerto Ricans when I was growing up”

  22. MAL says:

“HONEST ABE”. What other president has that nickname?
Kid, the only thing that stops me from saying Trump is his propensity to exaggerate, otherwise I would also say him.

  23. geeez2014 says:

MAL/ GREAT point…Trump DOES exaggerate and you nailed something gnawing at the back of my mind that kind of prevented me from saying TRUMP right away….I think he was mostly honest but, yes, a HUGE exaggerator….

I’ve told you this a MILLION times! 🙂

  24. geeez2014 says:

You’ve got to love Candace Owens and Kanya West wearing WHITE LIVES MATTER sweatshirts at a Paris fashion show 🙂

  25. kidme37 says:

MAL, That occurred to me as I was typing Trump’s name but I think on a national level given the wide variety of IQ levels you need to keep on your side to get elected or get some things done, “Politics” is inescapable. Said another way, ‘You can’t always tell the truth”. Not in today’s environment of mind shattering evil and lying the democrats have been doing.

Still, he Did what he said he wa going to do and over-delivered imo.

magapill.com. – of which none of it gt reported unless in rare cases, it was unavoidable.

  26. geeez2014 says:

KID, I agree….over delivered imo, too. And yes, in today’s environment (which IS mind shatteringly evil) you really can’t tell the whole truth. 😦
